How UVC LED Works

UVC LEDs are solid-state semiconductor devices based on third-generation semiconductor materials like aluminum gallium nitride (AlGaN). When a forward bias is applied, electrons and holes recombine in the active layer, releasing photons corresponding to the UVC band. This electroluminescence process requires no harmful substances like mercury.

Core Advantages of UVC LED
  • Environmental Safety: Completely mercury-free, complying with international regulations such as the Minamata Convention on Mercury.

  • Design Freedom: Compact size and low thermal dissipation enable integration into portable devices, automated systems, and IoT applications.

  • Precision Sterilization: Wavelength can be optimized to match the absorption spectrum of target microorganisms, enhancing sterilization efficiency.

  • Intelligent Control: Supports pulse modulation and instant on/off switching, facilitating energy management and smart system integration.

Leveraging the inherent advantages of solidstate illumination, UVC LED technology is progressively replacing traditional mercury lamps as the mainstream solution in optical disinfection. It not only addresses long-standing issues of environmental safety and usability but also pioneers new application paradigms such as "portable disinfection," "smart integration," and "precision sterilization," offering more advanced and reliable solutions for healthcare infection control and public health safety.
